SallyClarkson.com

I love Sally Clarkson! She has been a mentor to me in my motherhood journey since my children were babies and long before I ever considered homeschool. Her words are rich with wisdom and gentleness. She has a calming voice in her writing and in her podcast. One of my personal favorite books of hers is The Ministry of Motherhood: Following Christ’s Example in Reaching the Hearts of Our Children. Not only has she authored several books on motherhood, womanhood, home, homeschooling, and more, but she has also co-authored several publications about family and homeschooling with her husband, Clay. Her children are now grown adults and are living lives filled with artistry, hope, writing, and mere inspiration. She is a humble legend in the homeschooling world. I highly urge you to read her words and receive her warm encouragements.

I enjoy the curriculum reviews, reading lists, and down-to-earth relational advice that Jamie Erickson provides in her homeschool blog. I enjoyed articles like this one because she addresses the relationships with her sons and the importance of raising the men they are to become. She is the author of a practical and motivational guide to Homeschooling called, Homeschooling Bravely; How to Squash Doubt, Trust God, and Teach Your Child with Confidence. This book was an encouragement and challenge to me as I embarked on my 4th year of our schooling at home. She is about to release her second book, Holy Hygge; Creating a Place for People to Gather and the Gospel to Grow. I have joined her launch team, and I am enjoying the book immensely! You will find many practical helps and encouragements from Jamie at TheUnlikelyHomeschool.com.

DurendaWilson.com

I also love Durenda Wilson! I heard her speak at my local Homeschooling conference (which I strongly recommend that you go to your nearest one!). She was friendly, humble, helpful, and most encouraging. She is the author of The Unhurried Homeschooler: A Simple, Mercifully Short Book on Homeschooling, The 4 Hour School Day, and Unhurried Grace for a Mom’s Heart-31 Days in God’s Word. These titles bring a breathe of ease and relief. The pressure is on us homeschooling mommas. It is so refreshing for a mentor to speak of being unhurried, shortening your formal lessons, and finding the steady, organic way of learning in your home.

Her blogposts speak of rest and relationship. Her posts on marriage call us to faithfulness and love to our spouses. You will find grace in her writing and real life stories and experiences that remind you, you are not alone!

PamBarnhill.com

Pam Barnhill is known for The Morning Basket! Cue the confetti and the trumpet fanfare! Morning baskets have become a very fun idea to add order and creativity to your homeschool. They offer a dip into the arts and literature including Shakespeare study, Music, Art, read-a-loud stories, poetry, and just about anything you’d like to add into your routine. She offers pre-made Morning Basket curriculum and membership, courses on how to do this, planning guides, and more. Both her blog and podcast offer great advice for making your homeschool day simple and efficient!

TheSmilingHomeschooler.com

And now for my favorite inspirational podcast host: Todd Wilson at TheSmilingHomeschooler.com. Todd is funny, experienced, hopeful, and always smiling. Click here to catch his latest podcast and jump right into the fun! You will not be disappointed. I can honestly say that The Smiling Homeschooler has given me a fresh perspective about school. His podcast episodes (co-hosted with his son, Ben Wilson) have been the most encouraging advice I’ve personally received from any speaker/author. He also speaks at many homeschooling conferences across the nation. If he is ever nearby, go see him!

Conclusion

As you can see from these great influencers, finding encouragement in your homeschool is very possible. You can do this! You can find the help you want, the motivation you need, and the community you’re longing for. Take a breath. Have a sip of that hot coffee. Read some of the posts I linked to above. These authors and speakers have encouraged me in my journey. I know they will encourage you also.

As I have found joy in my homeschool, I hope to encourage you too. Leave a comment below and share which speaker most connects with where you are right now and why. I’d love to hear from you.
