Keepwalkingfriend Was Specifically Designed for YOU

Welcome to Keepwalkingfriend!

You’re in the right place if…..

  1. You want to be encouraged in your homeschool journey.
  2. You’ve been struggling to find community with other homeschoolers in your zip code.
  3. You want to save time in homeschool prep.
  4. You want to develop healthy identity (mental health) and healthy habits (physical health).
  5. You seek inspiration and motivation to keep going.

I want to serve you, friend!

I have found that homeschooling can feel a little like the Lone Ranger. When you get together with friends at MOPS or church, you can feel like the odd-man-out if your friends sends their kids off to school every Fall. When you get together with family, you may feel yourself having to explain (again) why or what you’re doing in your homeschool. You do this out of a need to validate it for them or even for your own peace of mind.

Ever walk away from these moments thinking, “Oh my goodness, they probably think I’m nuts to stay at home all day with my three,” or “Oh man, I can tell she thinks our homeschool model is: me, lounging in my pajamas and the kids, playing all day,” or better yet, “Eergh, I just bulldozed that conversation with my home-made cookie lesson and too-good-to-be-true chore list. They’re not going to want to talk with me again!”?

Thoughts of ‘I’m not good enough.’

Thoughts of ‘I am just TOO much!’

I hope Keepwalkingfriend can bring some space and calm to these thoughts. Finding your community in the homeschool world is no easy task. I hope you can find a welcoming and encouraging community here.

On the world wide web, I have found many practical homeschooling articles and blogposts that address the logistical aspects of a homeschool; how to discover your learning type, what curriculum to buy in 4th grade, how to plan your year, etc. These are very helpful, and many of these posts have helped me in my own homeschool journey.

This space is not only a place for tips and helps in homeschool, but also a place to find confidence, inspiration, support, and refreshment in your journey. Homeschooling is just that; a journey.

Along the way, I hope to encourage you in…

  • Ways to love your kids better (even though you homeschool) 🙂
  • Ways to create one small habit for health at a time (and stick to it!)
  • Ways to build your confidence when you don’t feel confident
  • How to find rest in the every day school, laundry, dishes, etc.
  • How to create a routine that makes your family smile
  • How to communicate well in your marriage
  • Realizing that encouraging a mom friend will in turn encourage you
  • Realizing that you are not alone
  • Realizing that you are enough

Homeschooling is a way of life, a family choice (unique as the family that makes it), and a loving commitment.

Friend, continue walking this journey! It is so worth it!

Keep Walking Friend,

Christina

    1. Yes, I’m also eager to learn any tips on balancing the home and school life. It seems the more organic (flowing, natural) our learning becomes, then the more school blends into home-life. This is my first year with a high schooler, so I’m still finding that blend between organic learning and online classes or book work. What I enjoy best of our homeschool is the flexibility! We can sleep in on the day after a very full day of classes. Or we can shift around our week to make room for something else (something that is life-learning!). I feel so blessed to have my high schooler home with me. And since learning has been enjoyable in his lifetime so far, he’s enjoying his upper classes as well. Learning is hard work, but it’s also good work, enjoyable work. ‘A love of learning’ has been a main goal in our homeschool. I’m so thankful to see it happening. 🙂
