7 Verses for Victory! with FREE Verse Card Printable

How are you feeling today? On top of the world and ready for the next challenge? Or pretty deflated and ready for a break? Or maybe defeated and about to give up?

No matter which end of the spectrum you fall, these 7 Bible verses of victory are for YOU! Yes, when we are high on the mountain, we need the truth. When we are deep in the valley, we need the truth.

Keeping our mind in the right place is something we must practice. I say must because most all of our activity and speech begins in the mind! I know some could say “that was mindless” in a moment of “oops,” but the truth is, our mind is the activator and the source of what we do and what we say.

What is Mindset?

Mindset: A fixed mental attitude or disposition that predetermines a person’s responses to and interpretations of situations.

An inclination or a habit.

A way of thinking; an attitude or opinion, especially a habitual one.

The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition.

A good definition helps me to better understand a concept. The great takeaway from these definitions above is this; Mindset is a predeterminer. Mindset will come before the determined action, response, or even interpretation.

Is Mindset Important?

Mindset will affect how I react to a circumstance, to my child having a fit in the library, to the higher price tags at the grocery store, to the lady who was rude to my friend, and on the list goes.

Mindset will influence how I face the “to do list” today. There are many ways to pay the bills, mail the letters, pick up the groceries, and homeschool the kids. Will my mindset be one of victory and love? Will my mindset be defeated and curt?

And last, Mindset will determine future Mindset! How I interpret people and life around me will affect how I think about the people and life around me. I feel like I’m going in a circle, but if you think about it, it makes sense. The mindset I have when I read a situation is going to affect my synopsis or thinking about it, which then sets my mindset for the future situation, whether a similar one or just the next event as I go about my day. Mindset determines mindset.

If this is true (and it is), how important is my mindset? It’s pretty important.

How do I have a GOOD Mindset?

The simple and profound way to set a GOOD Mindset is to dwell on Truth! Where do we find Truth? We find it in the person of Jesus Christ and in His living Word, the Bible!

The Bible is transforming. The truths found in its pages are life-changing for eternity!

It was in my darkest moments that the truth of Scripture saved me. I experienced post-partum depression when my 2nd little one was just 4 months old. This time was shadowed with a hopeless feeling. It was nearly impossible to shake the hopelessness. My husband never gave up. He stayed. He helped. He never gave up. My counselor never gave up and kept speaking the truth of Scripture to me. My dear friend, took my phone calls and never gave up when I shared my feelings. I about did give up. Jesus never left me, and He never gave up! It was the truths of His Word that broke the dark shadow. Over time, fewer and fewer days were shadowed, and the truth began to shine brighter in my mind. I’m so thankful the Lord changed my mind! His Word transformed my thinking, and therefore transformed me.

“For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,”

Romans 8:6, The Open Bible, NASB

7 Verses for Victory

Here are 7 verses to meditate on every morning; one for each day of the week! Be sure to grab a FREE Verse Cards Printable to reference easily!

As I mentioned in a previous post about habits in homeschool, I was part of a MOPS book study this summer. We read the book, Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table; It’s Time to Win the Battle of Your Mind. The author Louie Giglio unpacks Psalm 23, particularly verse 5; “Thou dost prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;” There is so much I could mention about this study, but for now, I will just say that it was challenging, inspiring, and most enjoyable. (And the ladies IN the study were awesome! I love my MOPS group!)

In session 4, the author explains, “It often helps if we have a daily rhythm – a method to retrain our minds that we are not in a story of defeat.” He gives 7 verses to remember throughout the week; one for each day. These are the 7 verses listed below:

Monday – Isaiah 43:1

“My God knows my name.”

Fill in the blank with your name.

Jesus loves _______________________.

How did that feel? Doesn’t it hit another string in your heart? He knows you by name! Remember this truth as you face your Monday.

Tuesday – Deuteronomy 31:8

“My God goes before me.”

He has made the path ready for you today. He knows what you will face, and He is there with you to face it.

Wednesday – Philippians 4:13 (my personal favorite!)

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

This one never gets old for me. This was my life verse as a teenager. Wow, do our teenagers in 2022 need this verse in their minds every day! I need this verse in my mind every day. 🙂 You really can do all things through Christ. He is your strength.

Thursday – Romans 8:18

“My present sufferings pale in comparison to the future glory that God has stored up for me in my life.”

You’ve made it past Hump day! It’s Thursday, and the sufferings you face may be just getting started. When you hit that wall or that trouble, remember this glorious truth. It truly doesn’t compare to the future glory God has prepared for you.

Friday – Isaiah 54:17

“No weapon formed against me will prosper.”

TGIF – It’s finally FRIDAY! You ever feel the weapons forming against you. Maybe it’s the relentless circumstances or the people you are facing right now. Remember, “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12. And even as this is true, no weapon will prosper. What a victorious thought!

Saturday – Romans 8:16

“I am a child of God.”

We can wear many labels; I am a homeschooler, I am a mom, I am a wife, I am a great cook, I am a forgetful netty, I am a bad mom, I am a failure. Some are true. Some are false. Above any label you wear, remember that you are a child of God! He loves you with a greater love than we can fully understand; A love stronger than the love we have for our own children. You are His child. Walk in that truth.

Sunday – Ephesians 1:19-20

“The same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives in me.”

The very same power; That power lives in us today. With this as our mindset for the day, how can we feel defeated? We cannot feel defeated if we are believing the truth of His Word. We know the truth, but sometimes we forget it or don’t believe it. Believe it as strong as you believe the sun will come up in the morning and the sun will go down in the night. Believe the truths of His Word, and may it transform your MIND!
